Do your bit for biodiversity. Tea and shortbread served.
The Coppetts Wood Conservationists meet on Sunday mornings throughout the year with the aim of maintaining the nature reserve, increasing its biodiversity and enjoying some sociable exercise in a lovely part of North London. Gloves, tools and tea are provided and volunteers span an age range from two to eighty-two, from students to the silver-haired brigade.
If you come along, you could find yourself digging a new pond, or raking out an old one; clearing bushes or bramble to encourage a more varied habitat, planting trees or a hedge.
Lately, we have been particularly active with digging new ponds in the Glebelands to encourage more aquatic species to feed and to breed.
If you’d like to give it a go, please email us for directions to next Sunday’s meeting point.
